El increíble Hulk (The Incredible Hulk)

Edward Norton y Zack Penn se pusieron a escribir el guión de la nueva película de Hulk, y debo decir que han cumplido la misión con honores. La película de Ang Lee, sobre el mismo personaje sin ser mala, tampoco había sido recibida con elogios por los seguidores del personaje de historietas, yo entre ellos. Sin embargo esta nueva versión dirigida por Louis Leterrier, es una adaptación mejor lograda.

Edward Norton and Zack Penn came to write the screenplay for the new Hulk film, and I must say that they have fulfilled the mission with honors. The Ang Lee's film on the same character without being bad, had not been received with acclaim by the followers of the comics character, I among them. But this new version directed by Louis Leterrier, is an adaptation best achieved.


Bruce Banner (Edward Norton), es un fugitivo que que mientras se mantiene oculto y lejos de las acechanzas del general Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (William Hurt), trata de encontrar la cura a su condición, que provoca que en sus momentos de ira se convierta en el Goliat Verde, Hulk. Inevitablemente tendrá que volver a los EE.UU. en busca de la cura, lugar en el que es ayudado por Betty Ross (Liv Tyler), es allí que el padre de Betty, el general Ross, provocará el nacimiento de otro monstruo llamado Abominación (Tim Roth), con el que al final de la película tendrá que saldar cuentas nuestro héroe.

Bruce Banner (Edward Norton), is a fugitive that while remains hidden and away from the pursuit of General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (William Hurt), tries to find the cure to his condition, which causes that in their moments of anger becomes the Green Goliath, Hulk. Inevitably he will needs to return to U.S. in search of a cure, there he is helped by Betty Ross (Liv Tyler), once he reached that place, Betty's father, General Ross, will cause the birth of another monster called Abomination (Tim Roth), with whom at the end of the film our hero will have to settle accounts.


Esta película se las arregla para ser un “reboot”, un recomienzo de la historia del famoso gigante verde, el mismo que huye, para ser permanentemente acosado por las fuerzas de comandos al mando del general Ross. La película rinde tributo a la vieja serie de televisión en varias formas, toma prestado el tema musical de la misma, Lou Ferrigno, quien era el Hulk de la tele, tiene una pequeña aparición como un guardia de seguridad, además de haber prestado de nuevo su voz para le bestia verde, y vemos a Bill Bixby brevemente en una pantalla de televisión. Stan Lee, el creador del personaje, hace su usual aparición en estas películas, y se lo ve tomando refresco de su refrigerador.

This film is manages to be a reboot, a retelling of the history of the famous green giant, which flees, to be constantly harassed by the commando forces directed by General Ross. The film pays tribute to the old television series in various forms, borrowed the theme song of it, Lou Ferrigno, who was the Hulk on television, has a small appearance as a security guard, in addition to having given his voice the green beast, and we see Bill Bixby briefly on a television screen. Stan Lee, creator of the character, makes his usual appearance in these films, and we see him taking a cold drink from his refrigerator.


El desarrollo de la historia es trepidante, a diferencia de la versión de Lee, en la que habían largos e incómodas secuencias. La acción fluye sin parar desde las favelas de Río de Janeiro, donde toma lugar una secuencia de persecución que corta el aliento, hasta culminar en un titánico encuentro por sobre los rascacielos de Nueva York. La actuación de Norton, como el atormentado Banner, es mucho más creíble en esta película, y brillan en sus respectivos papeles de “malos”, los habituales Hurt y Roth. Liv Tyler en su rol de Betty Ross tampoco desentona.

The development of the story is frantic, unlike the version of Lee, which had long and uncomfortable sequences. The action is flowing nonstop from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, where takes place a breathtaking chase sequence, culminating in a titanic encounter over the skyscrapers of New York. The performance of Norton, as the tormented Banner, is much more believable in this movie, and shine in their respective roles of "baddies", the usual Hurt and Roth. Liv Tyler in her role of Betty Ross is well done too.


Esta es claramente una de esas pocas cintas que es casi imprescindible apreciarlas en pantalla grande, para admirar los efectos especiales –visuales y sonoros- en todo su esplendor. Con esta historia la compañía Marvel se ha anotado dos éxitos en lo que va del verano estadounidense y además hay indicios en esta película que tal vez, pronto podamos apreciar una que incluya a todos los famosos personajes del grupo de superhéroes conocidos como los AVENGERS.

This is clearly one of those few films that is almost imperative to appreciate on the big screen, to admire the special effects -visual and audio- in all its glory. With this story the company Marvel has scored two successes so far on the American summer and also in this movie there are indications that perhaps soon we can appreciate one that includes all the famous characters of the group of superheroes known as the AVENGERS.


Antes del final sólo me resta dar una advertencia, no lleven a la misma a niños muy pequeños o muy impresionables, ya que la acción y el nivel de violencia en la misma es bastante intenso, no es algo que llevaría a ver a mi sobrino de 10 años. Ni qué decir que el fan boy que habita en mi ha salido del teatro con la satisfacción de haber visto por fin una película que le hiciera justicia a todo lo que antes sólo habíamos visto en las ahora clásicas historias de los comics. Nivel de expectación: 6/10. Nivel de satisfacción: 10/10.

Before the end only remains for me to give a warning, do not to bring to it to very young children or very impressionable, as the action and the level of violence in itself is quite intense, is not something that I’ll take to watch to my 10 years old nephew. Needless to say that the fan boy who lives inside me has left the cinema theater with the satisfaction of having finally seen a movie that do justice to everything that previously had been seen only in the now classic stories of the comics. Expectation Level: 6/10. Level of satisfaction: 10/10.
