"La Vie en Rose" is a great film directed by Olivier Dahan and interpreted by Marion Cotillard, in the role of the extraordinary Edith Piaf.

The film tells us in a seemingly chaotic form about the life of the great French diva, and in this so atypical biopic, we jumping scenes from the life of Piaf in adulthood, to his old age, and from there to his childhood, it is only at the end that we will really get an idea of all that this great singer experienced throughout his life.

It's really amazing to see how a girl who was abandoned by her mother, raised in a brothel, having been blind for a while, wandering with a travelling circus and stand with her singing from the slums of Paris, to the greatest scenarios and longed fame and recognition.

One thing that attracted my attention was that Piaf, spent virtually alone his whole life, or at least is the conclusion of seeing this film, since almost no other character takes a prominent place in the film, not even her lover Marcel. It was also good to see Depardieu albeit for a short time.

The ambience and recreation of the different times of the life of Piaf, are also another high point for the film, because the fashion and scenery have been magnificently recreated. Thanks to the provision of a somewhat chaotic scenes, we do not have enough time to being sad for some of the many tragedies that she lived, as they leave a sad scene almost immediately to move to a more jovial.

But I must confess that if I can now understand how the songs of Piaf arrive at my soul, because she turned in all their life experiences in the interpretation of them, thus causing a total empathy with his listeners. I must also admit that I shed tears for several passages, especially in the moments where the Piaf crossed by great personal tragedies and setbacks.

The end it made me cry when she says goodbye singing an emblematic song: "NON, JE NE REGRETTE RIEN.

The interpretation of the Cotillard is certainly a worthy recipient of the golden statuette, as well as the makeup job that earned the film another statuette. These days one rarely sees films that are not "Made in Hollywood," and when you have an opportunity like this time, we realize that other countries also have gems to offer.

FIFA headed by Joseph Blatter and his cohort have done so again, ratifying again the veto imposed on playing for the World Cup playoffs in cities whose elevation exceeds 2750 metres high. The former happens paradoxically, in the midst of a trial for corruption.

As if we do not know what would happen, our own League and Federation, gave a lukewarm defence of the matter, and it had come to where we knew it was going to come, to the point that FIFA's interest rests in teams of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay to a lesser extent, to come to play in different Coups of the World.

To avoid this post from being long, read how FIFA makes a mockery of the Fair-Play Code:

1. Play fair
Is what Argentina and Brazil should do, and all the other teams who seek in altitude an easy excuse to minimize its losses.

2. Play to win but accept defeat with dignity.
Flamengo and its weeping leader Marcio Braga should be aware of this.

3. Observe the Laws of the Game
And they should be for everyone equally and not inclined according to the size or economic power of each country.

4. Respect opponents, team-mates, referees, officials and spectators
No comment.

5. Promote the interests of football
Attention, football, not those countries which make them earn more money (to FIFA).

6. Honour those who defend football's good reputation
So Joseph Blatter, Marcio Braga, Julio Grondona, Nicolas Leóz, Romer Osuna and Carlos Chavez are exempt from the above.

7. Reject corruption, drugs, racism, violence, gambling and other dangers to our sport
Then all the executives of FIFA, Conmebol, and the chairmen of several associations should resign now! Is not racism to veto an entire population from football for the crime of living above the 2750 metres above sea level? Is not this to exert violence against the rights of these individuals?

8. Help others to resist corrupting pressures
The Pharisees of FIFA, preach but do not practice.

9. Denounce those who attempt to discredit our sport
Really? All that handle FIFA kicking together with their acolytes are those who defile sport

10. Use football to make a better world
Of course, unless you live above the 2750 metres above sea level which is where queers of Argentina and Brazil refuse to go (No offence intended against the real queers).

To conclude whether if they proceed with the veto, no longer call the World Cup as such, call it the Coup of Flat Lands, or anything else except World Cup.

El viejo Merlan y mi casera (The old “Merlan” and my “casera”)

Turning after for a long time near the Perez Velasco sq., I found that the demolition of the old market Lanza, popularly known as the "Merlan" is almost over, so I decided to take some last pictures of the place where soon accordinng to the Mayor House of La Paz, there will be a modern building with many stories, where the “caseritas” may meet again with their customers.

Meanwhile, the “caseritas” have been temporarily located in the vicinity of the site and they are being distributed by the square Alonso de Mendoza, the Evaristo Valle street and the Plaza de los Heroes. Where obviously bear a discomfort that really hopefully not last longer than planned. And I say this, because the council has shown that it has a negligible delay record with the works under its charge.

I missed my own “casera” (1) at Merlan, which was located just at the entrance to the dining room on the left in the first place that offered sandwichs of “chorizo” (2). In La Paz I do not know of a best place to eat them, and in addition to being cost effective, compared to other places, they are a delight for me.

Fortunately walking by Montes Av., I’ve looked up in the Heriberto Gutierrez, the street that connects the Montes Av.. with Alonso de Mendoza Sq., and I saw the sign “Comedor Popular”, then I assumed that there I would find my old “casera”, and indeed, there we meet again and were delighted about the reunion. Immediately I began to enjoy a sandwich, and now I know I will come back regularly, as before, to that place, my “caserita” kindly agreed to pose for a photo, and it's shown in the last picture.

(1) Casera: In Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador y Perú, is the constant seller, respect of his/her client, and the seller refer with the same word to his/her constant client.

(2) Chorizo: A pork meat sausage, that is fried in boiling oil, or sometimes cooked in a grill.

I begin by saying that this is an atypical film, is not made for those who want to see a rapid development and linear plot. Instead, the development occurs along all the film and it is only at the end when the whole picture can be seen in its entirety. Of course this is not a film that has action scenes, despite being partially set at World War II, as well those hoping to see a shot or exchange of fire, will also be disillusioned.

What we have here is a work that tells us the consequences of a lie, said by Briony (Saoirse Ronan, a girl), who misinterprets an encounter between his sister Cecilia (Keira Knightley) and Robbie Turner (James McAvoy) an employee of her parents' house, located in the English countryside.

The lie will separate the two lovers and we will see over time their efforts to get back together, because in the midst of them has brought not only the time that Robbie spent in prison, serving a sentence for a crime he did not commit, but just when he comes out he’s recruited and this is how we see it then roam the beach at Dunkirk, in a superb sequence, which portrays all the horror, bizarre, and the terrible human consequences of war.

Briony is looking for ways to repair the damage and in the meantime we get more pieces of what really happened when she decided that Robbie charged with the guilt of the crime. At the end she will find the way to purge her sin, in an unexpected twist that I have not anticipated.

A superb soundtrack composed by Dario Marianelli, which accompanies with majestic tones the film, who managed to take up the Oscar in its category. The staging was also very good capturing the air of pre-war era, London under German bombing, and superb recreation of the beach at Dunkirk. Ah, I forgot, the film reminded me of the old sound of typewriters, something that was almost forgotten for me, how time flies!

High point for the director Joe Wright, who succeeded threading a story adapted from the book by Ian McEwan, leading to all his actors to give the just performances that the story needed. The two main actors shine in their scenes. But the actress who makes small Briony (Saoirse Ronan) is the one that struck me most with their performance. It was also a welcome surprise to see again the great Vanessa Redgrave, as an elderly Briony. A little gem of the few there are today in the midst of so much straw and glitter.

No es país para viejos (No Country For Old Men)

At some time in the early 80's Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) is a welder wandering on the plains of Texas, in search of prey to hunt and while he’s doing so, he found himself against a bloody scene, which is the clear result of a drug transaction that has gone wrong wherever one looks. He finds a moribund asking him water and he refuses to help and he’s frustrated because the subject does not speak English. Llewelyn was aware that there was a man who fled with the money and decides to go after him, moments later he found to the dead man who was holding a satchel with the money, which he immediately takes it to his house. In a burst of conscience decides to return to the scene of the shooting, carrying water to the dying man had asked him, but doing this makes that Mexican traffickers pursue him and nearly get caught, with the aggravating circumstance of having to leave his truck at the scene of the crime.

On the part of the band that was going to buy drugs, and of course, owners of the money that Llewelyn now has in its possession, is sent to retrieve it, Anton Chigurn (Javier Bardem) a psychotic criminal, which is an efficient, persistent and unstoppable killing machine, which he does without showing the slightest hint of emotion. Shortly after Llewelyn, learns the bad decision he has taken that day and that it will suffer an entire ordeal in their eagerness to keep the money and prevent him or his wife to be killed in the attempt. Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones) is an old sheriff, who despite his best efforts may make little to take part in the development of this story.

Notable interpretations of Bardem (and justly earned him the Oscar), as a terminator of flesh and blood, which does not make it any less cold and impersonal and too persistent. A notable Josh Brolin, I am sure, after this film he will be in more jobs where we can admire him. Tommy Lee Jones solid in the few parts in which he stay on scene. A magnificent photography that shows us well the vast spaces of Las Vegas, New Mexico and western Texas. I must say also that the Oscars for Adapted Screenplay and direction are in very good and deserving hands. Although for my personal taste I stay with "Raising Arizona" as my favourite movie of Ethan and Joel Coen.

Llewelyn is a guy that believes he can get away with it, and keep the money that he found. In the end he’s not a bad person, but his decisions will have negative consequences not only for him but for many innocents. Good interpretation of Josh Brolin. Bardem on the other hand in his characterization of a murderer who is like a force of nature, make us shudder in the same way as Hannibal Lecter did long ago. The scene, in which he leaves the scene of an accident in which he appears to be the victim, is something that those who see this movie will recall forever.

This is not the typical production of action-of which there is plenty, in which there are clearly defined sides and we know who will win -must-win-. As I see it personally, this is a story that is a great fable in which the only moral that there is, is that sometimes we put us in the way of events that eventually burned not only to us but even people who have nothing to do with the course of action that one has taken. It has to do with the inevitability of evil and death once that one have been so stupid as to call his attention. It also has to do with the state in the world that (name the country that you want) is the moment in which really there is almost no place for the elderly, because most consumed their lives too fast, or as in the case of this film take shortcuts rather risky, at the end of which offer no escape.
