El tirano. Una vez más el “señor” Chávez se le ha ocurrido abrir el hocico ese que pasa por su boca para decir que intervendrá –militarmente- Bolivia. Y digo yo, quien le ha dado semejante autoridad de siquiera insinuar eso a este nefasto personaje, o acaso es que Evo y compañía no saben que eso es una intromisión abierta de una nación extranjera en asuntos que solamente nos deben competer a nosotros los bolivianos. Tal vez, y sólo tal vez es la consecuencia de recibirse dinero a montones, a cambio de dejar que este señor se refiera a Bolivia como si fuera su fundo. Sabe señor Chávez, ¡por mi usted se puede ir al cuerno!

Hablando del otro Chávez, el peruano Walter Chávez ha sido protegido por la justicia boliviana (claramente influenciada por el gobierno) reconociéndole el status de refugiado político, a pesar de que en esa condición este señor jamás debería haber trabajado en el aparato estatal, y sin embargo no solo hizo eso, sino que además el Perú lo requiere por haber formado parte de la organización terrorista MRTA, y quien además resultó parte del secuestro del empresario Samuel Doria Medina. Eso sí, este gobierno masista no deberá hacer ningún lío el día de mañana cuando los EE.UU. nos nieguen la extradición de Sánchez de Lozada, basado en los mismos argumentos.

But this MAS government should not make any mess tomorrow when the U.S. will refuse to extradite Sanchez de Lozada, based on the same arguments.

Esta historia sucedió hace tiempo atrás, cuando mi hermana, mi hermano y yo aún éramos niños impresionables. Como gran parte de los niños suelen hacer, nos poníamos a jugar imitando las cosas que veíamos hacer a los adultos, las que veíamos en el cine, o como en el caso en cuestión, las acrobacias y maravillas que veíamos en el circo.
This story happened some time ago, when my sister, my brother and I were still impressionable children. As much of children often do, we used to play imitating things that we saw the adults were doing, what we saw at the movies, or as in the case in question, acrobatics and wonders that we saw in the circus.
En ese entonces, la visita de los circos a la ciudad de Oruro era bastante regular, y téngase en cuenta que hablo de circos en toda la regla, de aquellos que incluían animales exóticos de todas clases, entre fieras amaestradas, caballos bien entrenados, perros y monos graciosos, equilibristas, malabaristas, magos, contorsionistas, trapecistas (si, me acuerdo haber visto el triple salto mortal) y de remate una infinidad de graciosos payasos.

La película cuenta la historia del origen de dicho superhéroe, que nace debido a la creación de Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), quien es la cabeza de Stark Industries, una corporación dedicada mayormente al diseño de tecnología aplicada al uso de armas, compañia que vale miles de millones de dólares y que la heredó de su padre.
The latest adaptation of Marvel Comics to the big screen is Iron Man. The film tells the story of the origin of that superhero, which rises due to the creation of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr..), who is the head of Stark Industries, a corporation devoted mostly to the design of technology oriented to the use of weapons, it's a company that worth billions of dóllars and that he inherited from his father.
Stark, es un mujeriego, un playboy quien vive según se viene el día, y a quien no le interesa otra cosa que lo que ha venido haciendo su corporación, vender armas al gobierno de los EE.UU., para dedicarse luego a sus más placenteras actividades. Luego, en una visita a Afganistán para efectuar una demostración de un nuevo misil al ejército americano, es herido y secuestrado por un grupo de insurgentes, los que aparentemente desean que Stark trabaje en la activación de las mismas armas que él iba a vender al ejército de su país.
Stark, is a ladies man, a playboy who lives as the day comes, and who is not interested in anything other than what he has been doing his corporation, selling weapons to the U.S. government, then to devote himself to his most enjoyable activities. Then, on a visit to Afghanistan to conduct a demonstration of a new missile to the U.S. army, he is wounded and abducted by a group of insurgents, who apparently want Stark works in the activation of the same weapons that he was going to sell to the army of his country.
En prisión se entera que otro prisionero, un doctor, le ha salvado la vida de la minúscula metralla que todavía tiene en el cuerpo y que podría matarlo, inplantándole un dispositivo en el pecho, el mismo que evita que ésta acabe matándolo. El y su eventual colega simulan estar trabajando en las activación de los misiles, cuando en realidad, Tony está construyendo el prototipo de lo que luego será su alter ego de Iron Man, el cual, efectivamente le sirve más tarde para escapar. Luego de que lo hace, volverá a su casa y trabajará en más prototipos hasta dar con el diseño final de lo que la prensa llegará a bautizar como Iron Man.
In prison he learns that another prisoner, a doctor, has saved his life from tiny shrapnel that still is in his body and could kill him, putting a device in his chest, which prevents that the shrapnel end killing him. He and his colleague simulate to be working in the activation of the missiles, when in fact, Tony is building the prototype of what later would be his alter ego of Iron Man, which effectively serves to escape later. After he does that, return to their home and work on more prototypes until the final design of what the press will baptize as Iron Man.
Esta adaptación realizada por Jon Favreau, nos muestra la génesis de Iron Man, desde una cueva en Afganistán hasta el corazón de los EE.UU., que es donde Tony Stark, rediseña y afina el traje que le servirá para llevar algo de justicia en el mundo. Sin embargo, él no puede darse cuenta que el enemigo lo tiene en casa, y que está justo al lado de él, en la persona de Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges), quien en su ausencia tomó el mando de Stark Industries, y de quien se nota a la legua que el regreso de Tony no le ha gustado nada.
This adaptation by Jon Favreau, shows the beginningof Iron Man, from a cave in Afghanistan to the heart of the U.S., where Tony Stark, redesigned and refined the suit that allowed him to bring some justice to the world. But he can not realize that he has the enemy at home, and which is right beside him, in the person of Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges), who in his absence took command of Stark Industries, and who is anything but happy with the return of Tony.
Virginia “Pepper” Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) es la fiel secretaria y asistente personal de Tony, y será esta quien desempeñe un papel importante para develar la traición de Obadiah y salvará a Tony. Virginia "Pepper" Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) is the faithful secretary and Tony's personal assistant, and she is who will play an important role in revealing the betrayal of Obadiah and will save Tony's life. And here I am not saying anything that will ruin the surprise of anyone because that is what I dislike doing.
Robert Downey Jr, en un rol en que cabe tan perfectamente como Stark en su traje Iron Man. El ha sabido darle a Tony, justo el aire que se necesitaba. Un Jeff Bridges casi irreconocible por el cambio de apariencia y por el rol de villano. Paltrow encarna un papel que lo efectúa con solvencia, pero en el que la siento un poco subutilizada. En resumen una película que acaba gustando, aunque según mi opinión personal se han restringido un poco, en parte debido a las futuras secuelas que el filme ya tiene casi garantizadas.
Robert Downey Jr., in a role that it so perfectly fits as Stark in his Iron Man suit. He has managed to give Tony, just the air that was needed. A Jeff Bridges almost unrecognizable by the change in appearance and the role of villain. Paltrow embodies a role that is undertaken with solvency, but where I feel a bit underutilized. To sum up a movie that it is likeable, but according to my personal opinion has been restricted somewhat, partly due to future sequels that the film already has almost guaranteed.
Los efectos son muy buenos y no distraen de la historia, el vuelo de Iron Man entre dos jets es realmente uno de los puntos altos de la película. Alguno que otro momento mediocre, pero que en general, no alcanzan a arruinar la historia. Mi mayor objeción es que la pelea final, no es de lo mejor de la pelicula, considerando que el climax de este capítulo. Muchos no han dejado de notar -yo entre ellos- la similitud de esta cinta con Batman Begins de Nolan, en ambas tenemos playboys, afectados por una tragedia personal, cuasi víctimas de corporaciones cuyo único interés es ganar dinero a como de lugar; que cuentan con aliados fieles; ambos personajes se dedican a crear sus alter egos, los mismos que les ayudarán a traer un poco de justicia al mundo.
The effects are very good and they don't distract from the story, the Iron Man flight between two jets is actually one of the high points of the film. Some other mediocre moments, but generally they do not reach to ruin the story. My greatest objection is that the final fight, it is not the best thing about the film, considering that it's the climax of this chapter. Many have not left unoticed -I among them- the similarity between this movie and Nolan's Batman Begins, both have playboys, affected by a personal tragedy, quasi-victims of corporations whose only interest is to make money at any cost; they rely in faithful allies; both characters are dedicated to create their alter egos, the same ones that will help them to bring some justice to the world.

Un grupo de amigos están reunidos para despedir a uno de ellos en su próximo viaje a Japón. Uno de los amigos se ocupa de grabar el evento en una videocámara, cuyo soporte luego se dará como un presente al viajero. Lógicamente como es un evento grabado por una persona sin la mínima noción de hacerlo, al comienzo molesta un tanto que la imagen que vemos se mueva bastante y hasta llega a causar un poco de mareo. Pero poco a poco nos vamos sumergiendo en los pequeños detalles, el viajero tiene un hermano, acabó de dar un gran paso en la relación con una de sus amigas, por lo que acabamos de descubrir que recién ahora que la va a perder se da cuenta de que está enamorado de la muchacha. Y mientras parece que la cosa se decanta por un típico capítulo de TV al estilo de Beverly Hills 90210, o de Melrose Place, de pronto todo el edificio es sacudido por lo que parece ser una explosión seguido de un ligero temblor, que incluso produce disturbios en el sistema eléctrico.

Para más consternación de ellos, llega justo a su calle y volando por los aires la cabeza de la dama Libertad. Solo entonces divisan a lo lejos la gigantesca amenaza que se pasea por las calles de New York causando estragos.
It is thus that the gang begins to take to the streets, and is almost immediately apparent that something is not right, even a building is succumbing in a clear allusion and reminiscent of 9/11. For more consternation of them, arrives just in the middle of the street and flying through the air, the head of the Lady Liberty. Only then took a peek at the giant threat that strolls through the streets of New York to wreak havoc.
Los amigos se ponen a la fuga, y lastimosamente irán sucumbiendo de a poco ante la imparable (al parecer) fuerza del monstruo al que los ataques desesperados del ejército no logran hacer mella. Algo aún más sorprendente será descubrir que el bicho va soltando lo que al parecer son crías suyas, de un aspecto vampiresco y casi del tamaño de una persona normal, y que al igual que el monstruo que las engendró son también letales.
The gang are on the run, and pitifully little by little succumbing to the unstoppable (probably) the strength of the monster to whom the desperate attacks of the army fail to make a dent. Something even more surprising is discovering that the bug is releasing what they appear to be offspring, of vampiric aspect and almost the size of a normal person, and that like the monster that spawned them are also lethal. Nuestros héroes se encuentran atrapados en Manhattan, tratando de hacer todo lo posible por salir de la isla, transmitiendo en el espectador un ambiente de claustrofobia, y de desesperanza cuando de pronto un ambiente que les era familiar, se vuelve en uno hostil y difícilmente reconocible.
Our heroes are trapped in Manhattan, trying to do everything possible to leave the island, conveying the viewer into an atmosphere of claustrophobia and despair when suddenly an environment that was familiar, becomes a hostile and hardly recognizable.
Debo decir, que para cuando apareció el monstruo (al que no vemos claramente, sino hasta el final de la película), ya me había olvidado por completo del malestar que provocaba el movimiento descontrolado de la cámara y estaba inmerso de lleno en la historia, en la que ahora sí los personajes cobraban una dimensión más real. La tensión va creciendo y vemos a nuestro héroe acompañado de sus amigos en su intento de rescatar a su amada.
I must say, when the monster appeared finally (which we do not see clearly, but until the end of the movie) because I had forgotten entirely on the unrest that led to the uncontrolled movement of the camera and I was fully immersed in history, in which the characters charged a dimension more real. The tension is growing and we see our hero accompanied by his friends in his attempt to rescue his beloved.
La tensión y el suspenso va en crescendo, y de todos modos aguantamos hasta el final, en el que de todos modos no está claro del todo si nuestra pareja ha logrado o no sobrevivir. Esta cinta que cuenta lo mismo que incontables otras, sólo que con la gran diferencia de hacerlo desde el punto de vista del ciudadano de a pie, de aquel que no sabe qué está sucediendo con certeza, me ha gustado. Nunca una cinta con monstruos me habían hecho temer tanto, o tenido con la angustia de saber acerca de la suerte de los protagonistas. Claramente se nota además cierto parecido con The Witch Blair Project, pero a diferencia de aquella, aquí los protagonistas son bastante más creíbles.
The tension and suspense is in crescendo, and anyway endure until the end, which anyway is not entirely clear if our couple has succeeded or not to survive. This film has the same as countless others, only with the big difference to do so from the standpoint of ordinary people, who do not know what's happening with certainty, I liked. Never in a film with monsters I had so much fear, or had with the anguish of knowing about the fate of the protagonists. Clearly there is also some resemblance to The Blair Witch Project, but unlike the latter, here the protagonists are far more credible.
En resumen una producción que no costó mucho, que recaudó bastante, gustó a suficiente gente, y que aseguró por el momento una secuela.
In short a production that does not cost much, that raised a lot, liked to enough people, and assured for the moment a sequel.

3.- Ver que mi sobrina Nicole concluya sus estudios y obtenga una carrera.

6.- Ir de La Paz a Copacabana a pie en peregrinaje.
7.- Continuar sacando fotografías hasta donde sea posible.
8.- Poder ver la siguiente película (siempre tengo en espera una o dos que quiero ver)
