"La venganza es CHAMUÑA" ("Revenge is CHAMUÑA")
I remember as a child I often hear the phrase "Revenge is chamuña", every time one of us was the victim of a betrayal, (such as when a friend or neighbor companion of games doen't invite a cookie of his package, or you were excluded from his team to play anything), eventually I started to hear grown up people using the same phrase and already I guessed then that the same phrase was spoken with darker tones and more menacing than mere revenge for some children.
It is that time after I found out that the Aymara word "chamuña" was the equivalent of the Spanish word "caramelo" (candy). Almost at the same time I learned that word in particular referred in particular to some handycraft candy that were sold in wooden boxes, which served as a mold to the sweet paste, which after a time solidifying, were cut in the form of cubes, or rectangle and were sold to schoolchildren of yesteryear.
For when I was a child, "chamuñeros" were already fairly low, and it turns out that recently when I came to think of the phrase, title of this post, I've got a craving to eat "chamuñas", but that is one of the things that have already succumbed to modernity, and I suppose the flood of domestic and imported candies made at the factory, with more flashy wrappings and also cheaper.
On the phrase, reportedly we changed "revenge is sweet," to the more indigenous "revenge is chamuña," although by the way the phrase is more heard in La Paz and Oruro, than in the rest of Bolivia. Sadly, there is even a picture of how looked the famous chamuñas. Which brings me to think about how many there are things today that seem so common and ordinary that we can't stop to think about them, much less to consider saving some record of how they were prepared or as in my case even having an image to share.

It was the month of March 2005, and since soon my identity card would expire, before that happens, I decided to appear in person at the identification offices of the Police in the city of La Paz. The day in question I decided to go, I did this at about 10 am, only to find a chaos of people and desks scattered by the three floors of the building. The first thing that U had to do was go to one booth, which included a very long line of people, just to pay the cost of the process and the card in question, so I was there for a long time, moving one or two steps, in which it seemed to be wasted 10 to 15 minutes.
But I could get to the end to the booth bank installed there where you can buy the card to process identification. But only then I realized that they were already past the two p.m. and that I was late to get to work. Before I leave someone suggested me, that I should reach the office at the time that it was opened at 8:00 in the morning. Horror of horrors! because I am accustomed to sleep until ten or eleven because of my work in the newspaper that leads me to stay until past midnight, and once arrived at my house, no matter how tired I am,the dream flees from my presence as a vampire in the presence of the cross.
However, these sacrifices must be made because there is no choice but to take care of them personally. Yes, I was also suggested by several people that if I "oiled" the matter, I could get the bloody document in less than what it takes to eat some salteñas with its soda. But despite that I am a kind of spender with my money, that is, I'm the kind of person who is not accustomed to arguing about prices, and that whenever someone mention a price in the first place where I'm looking for something, I just lend the money without further preamble. And although the first day some officials hinted that if I wanted the ID, I could have it for the next day at least, despite this, there is something in me that prevents me from doing such things, first I'm a suspicious man, but mostly because I do not want to be the cause to get someone involved -and next to me-, in something that is clearly illegal and unethical.
So the next day, I go and find that even getting there at the 7 am, to be in time at about eight, I already found some people that there were been queuing outside from 4 or 5 o'clock in the morning. So I had to start queuing at my designated desk, which corresponded to the letter "V" for Valenzuela. When my turn finally came, the corporal Q., proceeded to fill my data as I give them to him, while an assistant of his, would be in the search for my "file". The "file" consists of a package in which they have my affiliation data with the card that you did before, plus your birth certificate, along with the cards in which you printed your fingerprints, as well as other papers for internal use of them, all nicely tied by a rope, which gives to the matter the impression of being in presence of a rustic gift.
Once the package was revised by the corporal Q., to my regret, he discovered that the birth certificate that I had left earlier, some dude of the Civil Registry, changed my name GARY by GARI, so that neither short nor lazy the concerned corporal wanted to proceed to rename the new ID. And when he gets ready to enter my name with the letter changed into his old Remington -yes believe it or not, they are still using typewriters, or at least they did in 2005- I presented my claim and I told him not to proceed with the change, before this and as the first time that I took an identity card I had done the initial tramit in the city of Oruro, then the corporal suggested that I go to the second floor office from where, upon payment, I could ask for the data ofy affiliation of the Oruro city, only that the consultation was via radiograms -yes, believe it or not in full twenty-first century, with the internet fully established in the city, the police still used the radiograms who were not otherwise that ask via radio, about my data, looking for someone in the Oruro, that will search, find an dictate the data via radio, to any person who was hearing to transcribe it here via typewriter-.
Well, I returned the next day, and I will ask for the famous radiograms, and it turns out that this time not only remained the initial mistake -GARI- but they also changed my birth date of October 2 to October 20 --ironically, I remembered ever have a thought that would have been great to have been born this date in particular (founding anniversary of La Paz), again I remarked these two errors after all I was suggested to get stopped the tramit for two days, time in which I was suggested looking fot his supervisor Sergeant L., to ask him about the possibility, that they respect the data that I had, since I was carrying too my military book, that was filled with the correct data.
The queue to meet with the bloody sergeant was too long, and if there is anything that caused me more outrage that the suffering to which I was subjected, was the fact that I witnessed, how diverse was the attention of police officers, from the lowest range to the highest levels, with people present there according to their social and economic status. Thus I noticed that for people they believed in good presence, they treated them in a more condescending way than the humble people, who was treated with rudeness, and worse if they were elderly, and much worse if they were from the countryside. Finally I came to the presence of Sergeant L., who despite my arguments -to submit additional documents which carried my correct name, he did not want to yield, but he hinted that something could be done if the matter were "oiled". I played a total dork to avoid have to say yes or not to his proposition, and finally he throwed me from his presence.
When I returned to corporal Q. two days after, I explained him how went the case, and he also seemed to realize that or I was a dork, or that I refused to "oil" the matter. Then he raised to my attention which might be the only solution to the freaking crossroad. That I should make a new petition to the Civil Registry, and through an attorney at law, ask for the correction un the mispelled letter of my name, just they can retore the original Y to my name.
Another tramit, another queue, which I had not suffer because my aunt had the courtesy of doing it for me, only that the matter lasted three days or so. After that I went once more to corporal Q. office, who sighing finally proceeded to deliver the data in the new card. Just then I could continue with the ordeal of having to go to make the queue so they can took my picture, and at least this was relatively fast, although they removed my glasses, the same that were almost embedded on my face for several years, and they put the number of my card in my chest, and just at the time I rehearsed a face of pain because I had stuck the pin of it in my chest, click!, and the photo was already in the Polaroid.

With that I finished the procedure and the next day finally FIIIINAAAAAALLYYYY! I could gather my new document just in time to get the money from my salary which had already been deposited in my account several days ago. I fell throughout this day into an ecstasy because the odyssey that had consumed nearly two weeks of my life had finally ended. But now it's aproaching more and more to my life the fateful day of March, 2011, when again I must attend to these offices and see what new surprises are ready to spoil my life…
If anyone wondered about the bloody name, unusual for my city, it turns out that my father who was a total movie fan, happened to name me with iit because he liked very much the actor Gary Cooper, albeit long after I learned that this was not his original name, but finally, that's another story.
On a final note I tell you that this post is inspired in a similar story, posted by the genial Podris, in her blog Estoy Podrida, I thank her the inspiration and the memory.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
If there’s anything that I'm looking forward, is the Watchmen movie, an film adaptation, directed by Zack Znyder based on the homonymous work of genius Alan Moore, with no less brilliant drawings by Dave Gibbons.
The play in question, is one of the best graphic novels, it has not only transcended the genre of superheroes, but also has managed to transcend the framework of comics (and of course their usual readers), to earn respect for people who are not normally immersed in the genre.
Do not mean something else, the fact that the work of
The book starts with the death of a superhero and his subsequent investigation by some of his former colleagues in his desire to unveil what could be a conspiracy to stop the masked vigilantes, who by the way do not enjoy the popular approval nor governmental. Meanwhile the world seems closer to the end of the Cold War, but not the way it ended really, but the way all the people feared back there in the early 60's.
The graphic novel in 12 separate chapters, is a reading, which not only invites to reread it once more, but several more times, and in each rereading you will be able to find new things and new details and new relationships between characters (even the secondary and tertiary) that before you were not able to notice. Not only that, the comic has been provided with a rich visual detail, even those who seem corny and worthless because after several readings a note that absolutely everything, it makes sense.
One would say that having read many times, eventually you will be getting bored at some point, but in my personal case, it does not, and there are still minor details, that make me wonder theories until the moment that they’re finally confirmed, discarded, or changed for one much better.
But I implore those who read this and who have not read the graphic novel so far, MAKE YOURSELF A GREAT SERVICE, do not seek anything more on the Internet or elsewhere, more explanation about the work, since when you have read it once, just then you’ll be in a better position to seek and enjoy any additional information that you can about the work.
The next film by Zack Znyder, even has the approval of the same
For my part I feel myself greatly disappointed if the work does not include the song by Billie Holiday, You're My Thrill…
Final Note: My friend Cristian Delgadillo noted that I confused to the artist of "V For Vendetta", Dave Lloyd, with the real artist of "Watchmen", Dave Gibbons, that error is corrected now, and I'm sorry for the mistake.

Sobre blogs y Bloguivianos (About Blogs and Bloguivians)
What is a blog?
Lately, I witnessed that many people only have a vague idea about what is a blog.
A blog is not just a log where like a journal events from the life of the blogger are narrated, in a more or less chronological way. While that was one of the initial intentions of blogs, as time was passing it has been discovered that a blog can be that and more.
A blog can be dedicated to a particular topic (literature, politics, news, sports, entertainment, exhibition of ideas, and so on.) Or at the same time can cover several of these issues. Above all, in my humble opinion, a blog is a form of expression of the blogger that lets you try out several and new fields and at the same time, as it can express their views on various topics and tastes, making his first literary essays, allows liberate a poet something hide that one carry on, and yes, sometimes taken by the heat of an provocative event to bring to light the internal demons.
But not only that, because like other tools of Web 2.0, allow us to stay in touch, or at least put in a showcase where we can no longer be open only to a region or country but to the whole world, shortening distances and thereby making a presence that otherwise would be more difficult if not impossible to achieve.
Personally, my blog has allowed me to comment on movies and music (2 great passions), make my first literary attempts, to share childhood memories, and commenting on situations in the field of politics, but only at times when the holiest man (or woman) loses patience. It is one of the tools that I used to show me, and anyone with just reading my blog can get a better idea of my person and my views.

This post would also like to mention the article appeared in the magazine and Punto y Placer (Point and Pleasure), according to which the bloggers of Bolivia in particular, like the rest of Bolivian society, are divided into two confronting sides to the point of wanting to deal with fists, that extrem may be denied by anyone who has attended the second meeting of Bloguivians, which took place in La Paz (August 29 and 30) and that also had the stellar presence of David de Ugarte, who gave us a masterly talk on the Internet activism.

Finally I want to thank to all the people who was responsible for the stage of the event (Cecilia Contreras, Vania Balderrama, Hugo Miranda, among others), as many of us had the opportunity to meet each other for the first time, and we hope that in future times the event (which next year will take place in Tarija), whill serve for the community of Bolivian bloggers, (scattered throughout the world) get closer, regardless of our political viewpoints that may be similar or not.

[speaking to Two-Face] "Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it. You know, I just do things. The mob has plans, the cops have plans, Gordon's got plans. You know, they're schemers. Schemers trying to control their worlds. I'm not a schemer. I try to show the schemers how pathetic their attempts to control things really are. So, when I say that you and your girlfriend was nothing personal, you know that I'm telling the truth."

"Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now...and so we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...a dark knight."

Buena Suerte."
"Let me get this straight: You think that your client, one of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the world, is secretly a vigilante who spends his nights beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands. And your plan is to blackmail this person? Good luck."
Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) in The Dark Knight (2008)

"Those mob fools want you gone so they can get back to the way things were. But I know the truth: there's no going back. You've changed things ... forever."
